Pol Lt Col Chanan Mekchai of the Patong Police was informed of the incident, in front of 7-Eleven near Soi Sea Dragon, at 4:40am.
Officers arrived to find the British tourist, named as Charlie Faulkner, had been stabbed in the lower left side.
Rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Foundation provided first aid before transporting him to Patong Hospital.
Witnesses of the event told officers that a group of Thai men were involved in an argument with Mr Faulkner.
After the tourist was stabbed with a knife, the group fled.
Mr Faulkner made his way insde the 7-Eleven store to seek assistance.
An investigative team has been assigned to CCTV footage from the area and to track down the culprits in order to press charges, Patong Police reported.
