The man was arrested at the Immigration Checkpoint in the International Departures Hall at about 3:30pm on Wednesday (Nov 27), Phuket Airport Immigration reported in a post online yesterday.
The man was not named in the report. It was also not reported whether he was staying on a tourist visa, or a long-term non-immigrant visa.
The Brit was found to have overstayed in the country 130 days after his permission had expired, Phuket Airport Immigration noted.
The man was taken to Sakhu Police Station, where he was charged with the offense of “An alien who entered and stayed in the Kingdom after permission had expired” and for “insulting an officer while performing his duties,” Phuket Airport Immigration confirmed.
Immigration officers at the airport have been kept busy, with two other people arrested while trying to clear Immigration.
At about 8:30am on Wednesday, officers, joined by the Patong Police, arrested a 43-year-old Thai woman on an outstanding warrant for her arrest for “trespassing”, among other charges.
The woman was wanted for “breaking into another person’s storage building or office at night by two or more people without reasonable cause”, Phuket Airport Immigration reported.
The woman was arrested at the International Arrivals Hall after landing in Phuket on a flight from abroad.
On Monday, officers at Phuket Airport Immigration arrested a 39-year-old Thai woman wanted for fraud.
The woman was arrested in the International Departures Hall around midday while trying to leave the country, Phuket Airport Immigration reported.
The woman was taken Phuket Provincial Court for further legal proceedings.
