The 2025 scholarship presentation ceremony took place yesterday (Nov 3) at Wat Tha Ruea. Anchalee Vanich Thepbutra, President of the Boon Rawd-Ekapoj Vanich Foundation, presided over the event, joined by members of the Vanich family, school administrators, teachers, parents and students.
Ms Anchalee explained that the foundation was established on Dec 13, 1996, by Ms Boon Rawd, who wished to dedicate her wealth to creating educational opportunities for children in Phuket facing financial hardship. The foundation’s objectives include supporting education, promoting cultural activities, and contributing to the community’s well-being.
Since its first scholarships were awarded in 1997, the foundation has granted 702 scholarships over 28 years, totalling B2,619,000. This year, 20 more students have been selected for support under the 2025 programme. Each will receive continued assistance until they complete a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
“The aim is to help students who are dedicated to their studies and display good conduct, but who lack financial means,” said Mrs Anchalee. “We hope to provide them with opportunities to achieve their dreams and become good citizens who contribute to society.”
She encouraged all recipients to study diligently and uphold the royal educational philosophy of His Majesty King Rama X, which emphasises four key foundations for Thai youth: a correct attitude toward the nation, a strong moral and ethical base, diligence and employability, and a spirit of volunteerism and public service.
“Education must build a foundation for life,” she said. “Students should know right from wrong, work hard, and take pride in supporting their families and their country. Everyone has a role in creating responsible and compassionate citizens.”
Representatives of the students and parents expressed their gratitude to the foundation for its ongoing commitment to supporting education and helping local youth pursue their ambitions.
