Benjarat ‘Nong Cream’ Cheychan, 21, was last seen leaving her house in the Rawai Beach area with a man driving a grey Bangkok-registered Toyota pickup truck on June 3.
Ms Benjarat had told family members that she was going to Prachuap Khiri Khan to sort out an issue with car repayments with a distant relative.
The relative had previously offered for car repayments for the vehicle to be taken over. Car repayments were made, but now the relative wanted the vehicle back.
Unable to contact her and worried about her well-being, her mother and other relatives reported her missing to Chalong Police at 2pm on June 4.
Her body was found in a grove in Phetchaburi province three days later (June 7).
Ratikan Chuenkasem, 32, owner of a windshield wiper shop, was on his way to work when he found her body in a grove beside Petchkasem Rd in Moo 1, Tambon Nong Prong, Khao Yoi District, Phetchaburi. He immediately reported the discovery to police.
Police began their investigation, sealing off the area, questioning witnesses and checking any CCTV footage from the area. Officers reported no signs of wounds from a physical attack, but said they were still waiting on results of a post-mortem examination by forensic doctors at Khao Yoi Hospital.
Ms Benjarat’s body was identified by her mother and family members by the clothes found on the body and jewellery the mother remembered from a trip to Sukhothai.
Police are continuing their investigation.
