The operation began at 6pm and involved Kathu District Office, led by Anurak Poolsak and District Chief of Security Sikarin Anilbon, together with Volunteer Defense Corps personnel (OrSor), Tourist Police, Patong Police, Patong Municipality and medical staff from Patong Hospital.
Officials conducted random urine tests on 220 workers at venues across Bangla Walking Street. No drugs were detected, Kathu District Office confirmed, adding that the results reinforced efforts to regulate nightlife areas and suppress illicit activities in line with Ministry of Interior policy.
At 7pm, Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri joined municipal executives, council members and public health officers at Bangla Rd to support the White Tourism Community Project, a joint initiative between Phuket Tourist Police, Patong Municipality, Kathu District, Patong Police, Patong Hospital and the Patong Beach Entertainment Business Association.
By 7:30pm, Patong Police Superintendent Pol Col Chalermchai Hirasawat had directed a further integrated patrol involving investigators, the Bangla Special Walking Patrol Network, public health staff, and municipal and district officials. The team conducted more spot checks at entertainment venues and similar establishments throughout Soi Bangla.
Authorities said the coordinated actions ‒ part of the ‘;Strong Tourism Community’ campaign ‒ were intended to reinforce public confidence during the high season and present a positive image of Phuket’s tourism industry.
Officials noted that such operations will continue as part of wider provincial measures to maintain safety, order and clean tourism zones in Patong.
