Karon Police reported that the alarm was raised at about 6:30pm. Officers and lifeguards rushed to the scene, where three Bahraini men had entered the surf despite hazardous conditions. Powerful waves pulled all three into deep water, prompting a rescue effort.

Lifeguards managed to bring two of the men – identified as brothers Ahmed Ramadan Almeshakhas, 32, and Mohamed Ramadan Almeshakhas – safely back to shore. Mohamed sustained minor injuries and was taken to Patong Hospital for treatment.

Their elder brother, Jasim Abdali Almeshakhas, could not be located and was presumed drowned. Search teams continued operations into the night, with Karon Police confirming that red warning flags were clearly posted along the beach at the time of the incident.

The three brothers had arrived in Phuket on Sept 14 and were staying at a hotel in Patong. Police have recorded the case and are coordinating with lifeguards and local rescue teams to recover the missing man’s body.

Officials once again urged beachgoers to obey red-flag warnings, which indicate dangerous rip currents and strong surf during the monsoon season.
