Chalong Police were alerted to the incident at 1:35pm and dispatched officers to the scene, a house in Moo 2, Rawai.
Pol Lt Col Somkiat Sarasit, an investigation officer at Chalong Police Station, responded to the call, informing Pol Col Rungrit Rattanaphakdi, the station superintendent, who coordinated with a local doctor and rescue personnel from Rawai Municipality.
Upon arrival, authorities found the body of the man*, from Darlinghurst, Sydney, hanged from a rafter inside the home.
According to rescue workers from the Rawai Rescue Unit, the man had previously shown signs of self-harm. Last Saturday (Apr 5), he had been taken to Chalong Hospital for treatment following a similar episode.
Following standard procedure, the man’s body was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death.
Police said they were continuing to investigate the case.
