Phuket City Police were called to the hotel, on Prachasamukkhee Rd in Ratsada, at 10:37am.

Officers arrived to find the man*, wearing a grey short-sleeved shirt and no trousers, hanged by a green nylon rope tied to the balcony railing outside his room on the seventh floor.

Police believe the man used a chair to climb onto the balcony railing before tying the rope to the balcony of his room and jumping. A wound was also found on his left wrist, suggesting prior self-harm.

CCTV footage from Tuesday (Mar 24) showed that the man had been staying alone in the hotel, and there were no signs of a struggle or disturbances in his room. His belongings were intact, ruling out foul play, police reported.

His body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death. Police have contacted the Argentine Embassy to notify his family and arrange for his remains to be claimed for religious ceremonies.
