At the 28th ASEAN–China Summit held on Tuesday (Oct 28) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Anutin joined regional leaders to witness the signing of the ASEAN–China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) 3.0 Upgrade Agreement, aimed at expanding trade and investment opportunities across the region.

Thailand’s Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun signed the agreement on behalf of the Thai government, reports the Bangkok Post.

During the plenary session, Anutin delivered Thailand’s statement, emphasising the longstanding ASEAN–China partnership as a key driver of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. He also welcomed China’s proposal to designate 2026 as the “ASEAN–China Year” to commemorate the fifth anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).

The prime minister outlined three priority areas to deepen the ASEAN–China relationship.

On economic cooperation, he noted that China’s technological strengths could help ASEAN enhance supply chain resilience, further empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and accelerate digital and green transitions, including smart agriculture initiatives.

He reaffirmed Thailand’s support for the full implementation of ACFTA 3.0 and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and welcomed Hong Kong’s participation to further strengthen regional integration.

On cross-border security, Anutin called for stronger joint efforts to address transnational challenges such as cybercrime, human trafficking, and environmental issues, including transboundary haze. He urged closer cooperation in law enforcement, information sharing, and capacity building to ensure regional safety and well-being.

He also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to ongoing peace dialogue and praised China’s constructive role in promoting harmony.

On Myanmar, Anutin reiterated Thailand’s readiness to support efforts towards genuine reconciliation and sustainable peace.

Regarding tensions in the South China Sea, he stressed ASEAN’s commitment to resolving disputes peacefully through negotiations on a Code of Conduct in accordance with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Anutin also attended the ASEAN–New Zealand Commemorative Summit marking the 50th anniversary of their partnership.
