Afghans caught using fake Kazakh passports

PHUKET: Two Afghan men were arrested at Phuket International Airport yesterday (Dec 9) for attempting to leave the country on forged Kazakhstan passports.

Immigration officers at the airport reported that the two men were arrested at the International Departures hall at about 11:30pm.

The brief report posted online by airport immigration did not name the two men.

It was also not explained which passports the two men had used to enter Thailand.

The men were taken into custody and handed over to Sakhu Police to face charges, airport  immigration confirmed in their report.


UPDATE: Airport Immigration later identified the two men as Afghan nationals Abdul Bashir Kawoskgar, 24, and Mustafa Ahadi, 20.

The men were attempting to board Bangkok Airways flight PG276 to connect to a connecting flight and fly to Milan, Italy.
