Online hotel booking giants to make major changes after UK probe

PHUKET: Six major online booking operators – Expedia, Booking.com, Agoda, Hotels.com, ebookers and trivago – have agreed to make “voluntary” changes to their online sales tactics following an investigation by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) into issues including pressure selling, misleading discount claims, the effect that commissions have on how hotels are ordered on sites, and hidden charges.
