Patong Council President Weerawit Kruesombat confirmed to The Phuket News that all 60 households nominated for government disaster relief will receive B9,000 each, totaling B540,000 in compensation.

“The list has been submitted to the district committee [for disaster relief] and will next be forwarded to the provincial committee before being sent to the central government for final approval and fund allocation,” explained Paitoon Phonrop, Director of Patong Municipality’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division (DDPM Patong).

“This assistance is part of the central government’s disaster recovery program to support victims across the country,” he said.

The areas in Patong with households to receive assistance are:

  • Baan Mon Community: 33 households
  • Baan Nanai Community: 11 households
  • Chai Wat Community: 4 households
  • Hat Patong Community: 5 households
  • Baan Kalim Community: 4 households
  • Baan Sai Nam Yen Community: 1 household

Two households were added to the list on Friday (Nov 14). However, Mr Paitoon did not specify the locations, only confirming that the total now stands at 60 houses.

While the compensation process is still ongoing, no payments have yet been made. “Funds will only be disbursed after the central government’s approval,” Mr Paitoon noted.

Patong Municipality has already provided initial relief efforts, including temporary repairs, debris clearance and basic household support immediately following the floods.

Once approved, the upcoming compensation will cover damage to homes and essential property as outlined in the Cabinet resolution, he said.
